Daily Itinerary

Day 1 MONDAY, September 5 - DEPART LOS ANGELES

Today we board our El Al Israel Airlines flight non-stop to Tel Aviv. Appropriate meals will be served in flight.

Day 2 TUESDAY, September 6 - ARRIVE TEL AVIV

Arrive in Tel Aviv. We meet our guide and transfer to our hotel in Tel Aviv. On the way we will visit Jaffa (Old Port City of Joppa) and the old Harbor Area, view Simon The Tanner’s house. We will have dinner before we retire at our hotel in Tel Aviv for the evening.

Day 3 WEDNESDAY, September 7 - TO THE GALILEE

This morning after our first Israeli buffet breakfast, we travel to Caesarea, where the Apostle Paul was in prison before being sent to Rome. It was also where Peter was summoned to come to Cornelius and bring the Gospel to the first Gentiles. We will see the amphitheater and view the aqueduct that the Romans built to bring water from Mt. Carmel. We travel to Megiddo, Biblical Armageddon, where we visit the Tel and walk through the water cistern. We continue to Mt. Carmel, where we will visit the church where Elijah had the contest with the prophets of Baal. Travel to Mount Arbel and walk along its peak for a stunning view of the Sea of Galilee and the area in which Jesus ministered, with extended views of Mt. Hermon in the north and Mt. Tabor in the south. It is a magnificent photo opportunity. View Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus (Matthew 2: 23). We continue to Tiberias where we will enjoy dinner and overnight at our hotel.

Day 4 THURSDAY, September 8 - GALILEE

Today we make our way to Tabgha where we visit the Church of the Primate, where the Lord called the disciples to come and dine after the resurrection. We will pass through the village of Magdala, home of Mary Magdalene. We make our way to Capernaum, home of Peter, and where Jesus spent so much of his time. Enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee to Kibbutz Nof Ginnosar, where the “Jesus Boat” is housed. We finally wind up at the Jordan River, where you will have an opportunity to remember your baptism if you desire. We return to our hotel in Tiberias in time for dinner before retiring.

Day 5 FRIDAY, Sptember 9 - GALILEE

Head north where we visit Caesarea Philippi, the site where Peter made the Great Confession. Then walk the Trails of Tel Dan. Here King Jeroboam built an altar (1 Kings 12) and gates dating to the time of Abraham (mud brick) and the Israelite Kings (stone) can be seen. Look out from Mount Bental over the valley that leads to Damascus. Saul would have his life transforming vision on his way there (Acts 9). Visit Sepphoris, the cosmopolitan Roman capital of Galilee until Herod Antipas built Tiberias. It is heralded as the traditional birthplace of Mary and possibly where Joseph and a young Jesus labored. Return to our hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 SATURDAY, September 10 - JORDAN VALLEY

We travel this morning to Harod, site of Gideon’s Spring. We make our way down the Jordan Valley to Beit Shean, the Roman city where the Philistines hung the bodies of Saul and Jonathan. We pass by Jericho, the oldest city in the world and visit the Mt. of Temptation. Finally, we will pause for a breathtaking sight of the Old City of Jerusalem from Mt. Scopus, before arriving at our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 SUNDAY, September 11 - JERUSALEM AREA

Stand atop the Mount of Olives as Jesus did and enjoy a remarkable view of the “Golden City” of Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount and Dome of the Rock. Walk the Palm Sunday Trail to Dominus Flevit Church ("the cry of the Lord"), visit the place where Jesus mourned for Jerusalem because "the days will come upon you when your enemies will... dash you to the ground." (Luke 19:41.) We will pray in the Garden of Gethsemane as Jesus prayed (Matt. 26: 36 - 44). Visit the Church of all nations before walking through some of the ancient rooms of Caiaphas' the High Priest's house beneath the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. Here, it is believed by many, Jesus was held overnight before His crucifixion (Luke 22). Stand in the traditional site of the Upper Room, in remembrance of the Last Supper (Mark 14) and coming of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2). We make our way to the Pool of Siloam, where Jesus healed the blind man. We will visit the City of David and see the excavations there then make our way to Gihon Spring, where you will have the "wet" or "dry" opportunity to walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel, about ankle deep in water if you desire. Those who don’t wish to do so will meet the rest of the group at the other end of the tunnel. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 MONDAY, September 12 - JERUSALEM AREA

Explore the Southern Wall excavations, and the Southern Steps, where no doubt Jesus walked when he entered the Temple area. We will visit the Western (Wailing) Wall and the Temple Mount. We will walk through the Souk and visit the Roman Cardo, the main street of Jerusalem in Jesus time and enjoy time for shopping. This evening we will enjoy the Sound and Light show at the Tower of David. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 9 TUESDAY, September 13 - JERUSALEM AREA

We continue to Bethlehem, where Jesus was born. Look out on the Shepherds’ Field, where angels spread the Good News. Drive by the Knesset and the New City of Jerusalem before arriving at the Israel Museum. Here is where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed. We will also visit the Second Century model of Jerusalem, to see how it looked in the time of Jesus. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 10 WEDNESDAY, September 14 - DEAD SEA TO JERUSALEM

Travel to Masada, Herod’s Winter Palace, and the site where the Jews held out against the Roman army, finally committing suicide rather than surrendering to the Romans. We’ll journey to the oasis of Ein Gedi, & hike to the waterfall where David and his men sought refuge from Saul (1 Samuel 23).We make our way back to Qumran, where we will visit the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Take a swim in the Dead Sea to experience the mineral-laden waters at this lowest point on the face of the Earth. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 11 THURSDAY, September 15 - JERUSALEM / TEL AVIV / DEPART

This morning we will drive out to Emek Tzurim National Park, at the foot of Mt. Scopus, to enjoy the Temple Mount Sifting Project. This neat experience will be the highlight of your tour. Sing a hymn in the Church of St. Anne and view the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-25) where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle. Walk the Via Dolorosa, the “Way of the Cross,” and stand in reverence at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Stroll through the Damascus gate to Solomon's Quarry before you end your visit with communion at the Garden Tomb, the possible site of the garden of Joseph of Arimathea, and experience the reality of the Resurrection before enjoying dinner before making your way to the airport this evening.

Day 12 FRIDAY, September 16 - ARRIVE LAX

Arrive back in LAX, our hearts filled with many fond memories of this Journey of a Lifetime.

FRIDAY, September 16 - CROSS THE BORDER IN TO JORDAN
This morning we will make our way to the Jordan River, where we cross the Allenby Bridge into Jordan. Arrive in Petra, the “Rose colored city as old as time.” We enjoy dinner and overnight at our hotel. Overnight in Petra.

SATURDAY, September 17 - PETRA
This morning we will visit the excavations of this city that is carved into the mountainside. We will see the Treasury, and the caves that were once homes and businesses. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

SUNDAY, September 18 - DEPART FOR USA
Today we recross back into Israel and visit Mt. Nebo on the way, where Moses looked over into the Promised Land and God buried him. We continue to the Olive Tree for dinner, and then we make our way to the airport for our flight back to the USA.

MONDAY, September 19 - ARRIVE LAX
We arrive the same morning, our hearts filled with many fond memories of this Journey of a Lifetime.
