Daily Itinerary

Day 1 Nov. 2 – Depart USA

Your Italian adventure begins as you depart the USA on your international flight.

Day 2 Nov. 3 – Arrive in Rome – Panoramic Tour of city

Arrive in Rome’s Fiumicino Airport. Gather your luggage and go through customs. Upon clearing customs, meet your Italian escort in the arrivals hall. Enjoy a panoramic tour of the city before checking in to your hotel.

Day 3 Nov. 4 – Papal Audience, St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel

This morning you will make your way to St. Peter’s Square to attend the Papal Audience, led by His Holiness, Pope Francis. (Papal Audience: Is scheduled to take place every Wednesday, pending the schedule of Pope Francis). Following the audience you will experience the glory of Christian Rome when you visit the Vatican, home to one of the greatest museums in the world. And, of course, you’ll enter St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, where you’ll view Michelangelo’s frescoes which have been restored to their full, colorful glory.

Day 4 Nov. 5 – Catacombs, St. Mary Maggiore, St. John Lateran, St. Paul Outside the Walls

Step beneath the surface into the Catacombs of Callixtus, built along the Appian Way. Here 16 Popes from the 2nd through 4th Centuries were interred, though they have been removed to various churches over the centuries. Continue on to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major (Maria Maggiore). This is the largest Marian church in Rome. Its construction began after the Council of Ephesus, in the year 431, proclaimed that “Mary was the Mother of God.” Later visit the Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran where Six Popes are entombed. End today at the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls. The present structure stands over the place where Constantine built the first church over Saint Paul’s grave. The church features a portrait of every Pope that has served the church, with the face of Pope Francis I illuminated as the present pontiff.

Day 5 Nov. 6 – Transfer to airport for flight to Lisbon, travel to Fatima

Today depart Rome on a flight to Lisbon, Portugal. Upon arrival in Lisbon, meet your guide in the arrivals hall and board your coach destined for Fatima.

Day 6 Nov. 7 – Fatima

Today you will celebrate Mass and then visit the Basilica where the three children (Lucia lived to adulthood) are interred. You will then journey to the countryside, where Mary appeared to Francisco and Jacinta Marto, and their cousin Lucia dos Santos from May 13, 1917 every month until on the 13th until August 19th, when she appeared at Valinhos. You will see their homes nearby, where Francisco died (Jacinta died in a Lisbon hospital) in 1919 and 1920. Return to Fatima for time to pray and contemplate the meaning of the Holy Site.

Day 7 Nov. 8 – Sunday in Fatima

Today is yours to explore the town of Fatima and spend time in prayer at the various basilicas and the shrine. Or take an optional side trip to the monasteries of Batalha, Alcobaca and the fishing village of Nazare (Additional $48)

Day 8 Nov. 9 – Return to USA

Transfer to the airport for your return flights home.
