Daily Itinerary

Day 1 Sep 3 – Depart USA

Depart on your international overnight flight to Lisbon, Portugal.

Day 2 Sep 4 – Arrive in Toulouse / Lourdes

Upon arrival in France, your guide will greet you at the airport (PUF) and escort you to Lourdes. View a video presentation of the story of Lourdes. Celebrate Mass in one of the chapels here at the Sanctuary. Check into your hotel for dinner and overnight. While in Lourdes, you will have opportunity to participate in the afternoon processional and the evening candlelight processional.

Day 3 Sep 5 – Lourdes

Today you will celebrate Mass in one of the chapels here at the Sanctuary. Then enjoy a walking tour of the Sanctuary grounds and then to the homes of Bernadette and her family. Included in the sites seen are the Boly Mill (St. Bernadette’s Birthplace) and the Cachot (The family home during the time of the appearances). Also see the parish church where St. Bernadette was baptized.

Day 4 Sep 6 – Lourdes

This morning, participate in “The Footsteps of St. Bernadette” with a visit to the village of Bartres, a childhood home of the Saint and her family. Return to visit the shrine area and tour the three basilicas. Celebrate Mass in one of the chapels here at the Sanctuary.

Day 5 Sep 7 – Flight to Porto

Transfer to Santiago de Compostela This morning transfer to Toulouse airport for your flights to Santiago de Compostela. Arrive this afternoon and travel to Santiago de Compostela. Check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Sep 8 – Santiago de Compostela

Those that wish to walk the final 10 kilometers (a little over six miles) of the Camino to the end of the Way of St. James at Santiago de Compostela will be transferred to the town of Labacolla. Once back in Santiago, you will meet up with your fellow pilgrims to visit the Cathedral and Baroque Abbey of San Martin Pinario. You'll visit the apostle's Tomb in the Cathedral and those who walked will receive the pilgrim’s parchment for your 10 Km Walk.

Day 7 Sep 9 – Travel to Fatima

This morning you will cross into Portugal to Fatima. Arrive in Fatima this afternoon where you will check into our hotel. time permitting, celebrate Mass in one of the chapels at the Sanctuary of Fatima complex. There is an opportunity to participate in the candlelight processional while in Fatima.

Day 8 Sep 10 – Fatima

Today you will celebrate Mass and then visit the Basilica where the three children (Lucia lived to adulthood) are interred. You will then journey to the countryside where Mary appeared to Francisco and Jacinta Marto and their cousin Lucia dos Santos from May 13th, every month until August 19th, 1917, when she appeared at Valinhos. You will see their homes nearby, where Francisco died (Jacinta died in a Lisbon hospital) in 1919 and 1920. Return to Fatima for time to pray and contemplate the meaning of the Holy Site.

Day 9 Sep 11 - Fly from Fatima to Rome Ancient Rome

Fly from Lisbon (Embedded image moved to file: pic02995.jpg)to Rome and start your tour with a visit the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls. The present structure stands over the place where Emperor Constantine built the first church over the grave of Paul the Apostle. Step beneath the surface into the Catacombs of Callixtus built along the Appian Way. Explore the romance of Rome as you climb the graceful Spanish Steps and stop at the famous Trevi Fountain. Legend says those who toss a coin into the fountain will one day return to Rome to toss another into the waters of Trevi.

Day 10 Sep 12 - Ancient Rome

Begin today by exploring the many wonders of ancient Rome. From the most sacred hill of ancient Rome, Campidoglio, view the Forum. See the Circus Maximus, Arch of Titus, famous Baths of Caracalla and Arch of Constantine as well as the Victor Emanuel Monument and the Monti Region, Rome’s most ancient neighborhood which spreads over three of her seven hills. This afternoon is free to explore on your own or rest for the return flight home.

Day 11 Sep 13 - Christian Rome

Attend the Papal Audience in St. Peter's Square. Enjoy a guided tour of the beautiful Vatican’s Museums, which houses a world-renowned collection of art and antiquities. The tour will include the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo painted the ceiling between 1508 and 1512 and later painted The Last Judgment. Then walk through St. Peter’s Basilica, built over the Byzantine and Middle Ages structures that marked the tomb of the Apostle Peter. Finish the day at the Pantheon, built by Marcus Agrippa during the reign of Augustus (27 BC to 14 AD). Emperor Hadrian rebuilt it around 126 AD.
