Daily Itinerary

Day 1 Sept. 28 – Depart USA

Depart on your international overnight flight.

Day 2 Sept. 29 – Arrive in Glasgow / Lourdes Grotto and All Saint’s Reliquary Chapel – Carfin Scotland.

This morning you will be greeted at the airport and travel to Carfin to the Lourdes Grotto of St. Francis Xavier Parish. Here you’ll see the recreation of the French grotto. Nearby is the All Saints Reliquary Chapel, home to relics of over 735 saints. Continue on to Edinburgh for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Sept. 30 – Dunfermline Abbey and St. Andrews Cross the Firth of Forth to Fife.

Stop at Dunfermline Abbey, where St. Margaret and Robert the Bruce are buried. Continue past picturesque fishing villages to St. Andrew’s, the ancient ecclesiastical capital of Scotland. Visit the ruins of St. Andrew’s Cathedral and the nearby castle with its notorious “Bottle Dungeon”. Take a look at the “Old Course” at St. Andrew’s, renowned as the home of golf! Return to Edinburgh for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Oct. 1 – Edinburgh Castle / Holyrood House / Rosslyn Chapel

Descend the Royal Mile to the Palace of Holyrood, home of the last Catholic monarch of Scotland, Mary. You’ll tour Edinburgh Castle, where James VI, son of Mary, Queen of the Scots, was born. Visit Rosslyn Chapel, recently refurbished in light of its fame through “The DaVinci Code”. It served for centuries as a chapel for the Catholic Sinclair family. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Oct. 2 – Lindisfarne

Experience the Holy Isle of Lindisfarne. Once an active abbey that was responsible for the Christianization of northern England, the monastery fell on hard times through Viking raids and the Reformation efforts of Henry VIII. Explore Lindisfarne Castle and Lindisfarne Priory (Arrival and departure dependent on tide schedule). Enjoy a Mass here before checking in to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Oct. 3 – Durham Castle and Cathedral

Today you’ll tour Durham Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral Church of Christ, Blessed Mary the Virgin and St. Cuthbert of Durham. One of the finest examples of Norman architecture, its treasures include the Relics of St. Cuthbert, the head of St. Oswald and the remains of the Venerable Bede. Three copies of the Magna Carta are in its library. Continue on to the walled old city of York for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 Oct. 4 – York

Enjoy time in the inner walled city of York. Learn more about St. Wilfred and St. Chad at York Minster, one of the largest Gothic churches in Europe. Mass at St. Margaret Clitheroe Church. Finish the day in Manchester for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 Oct. 5 – Return to USA

Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
