Day 1 October 4 – Depart USA
Depart on your international overnight flight.
Day 2 October 5 – Arrive in Milan & Turin
Your guide will greet you and escort you to your motorcoach for your drive through the countryside to Turin (Torino) for dinner and overnight. (D)
Day 3 October 6 – Turin
Enjoy a tour of Turin today, including a stop at the Palatine Gate from Roman Times. You walk through the Cathedral where the Shroud of Turin is kept in the Chapel of the Holy Shroud. You’ll spend time in the Piazza Castello and see such buildings as the Savoy Royal House while walking there. This afternoon you will drive to the coast to La Spezia for dinner and overnight. (B,D)
Day 4 October 7 – Cinque Terre
Today you will venture to one of the five coastal towns by train, funicular or bus known as the Cinque Terre (Five Towns). These beautiful cities will take you back in time to their humble beginnings on the sea. Return to La Spezia for dinner and overnight. (B,D)
Day 5 October 8 – Pisa
Travel south to Pisa, where you can snap your photo in front of the famous Leaning Tower. This 180 foot tall round tower is over 10 degrees out of perpendicular. In the past, some thought the tower was designed to lean. In fact, it was designed to stand straight and tall. The tower began to lean during its construction in 1173 and corrective efforts failed. You’ll visit the Duomo next door, before traveling this afternoon to your Tuscany hotel in Montecatini Terme for dinner and overnight. (B,D)
Day 6 October 9 – Florence
The elegant city of Florence is nestled between a line of hills and the banks of the Arno River. During your day, you will have time to enjoy the beautiful gardens and stroll through the open-air markets. Every street, every square and winding alley of Florence is a showcase for Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance grandeur. Among the wealth of masterpieces to be found in Florence, you’ll see the Piazza della Signoria with its Neptune Fountain and Vecchio Palace, the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral which houses Michelangelo’s unfinished Pietá, the Baptistry which features Ghiberti’s famous Gates of Paradise and the Academy where you can view some of Michelangelo’s finished and unfinished work, including the awe- inspiring David. You’ll take in the Uffizi Museum. Here works from Da Vinci, Botticelli, Giotto, Titian, Michelangelo and Raphael are on display. Return to Montecatini and enjoy dinner on your own in one of the many restaurants here. (B)
Day 7 October 10 – Siena
Today is spent in the Tuscan city of beautiful Siena, built across several hills and valleys. The focal point of the city is the shell-shaped town square which is both a meeting place and market place. It is also the venue for the town’s famous horse race known as the “Palio”. Return to Montecatini and enjoy dinner on your own in one of the many restaurants here. (B)
Day 8 October 11 – Return to USA
Fly home from Florence this morning and return to the US.

October 11 - Orvieto
Pope Nicholas IV laid the cornerstone for the Cathedral of Orvieto in 1290. Orvieto served as a Papal residence through the Middle Ages, Pope Clement VII being one of the last to stay in Orvieto in 1527. Here the Feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated, marching from the Duomo. Enjoy free time for lunch and shopping in Orvieto before continuing your journey to Rome. Check in to your hotel for your three-night stay. Breakfast is included at your hotel, you are on your own for lunch and dinner each day while in Rome.
October 12 - Rome
History is woven through the streets and neighborhoods of Rome as in no other city. Tour the Catacombs of St. Sebastian. The catacombs contain some of the only surviving examples of early Christian art. Explore the many wonders of ancient Rome as you visit the magnificent Colosseum. From the most sacred hill of ancient Rome, Campidoglio, view the Forum. Wander through Navona Square and enjoy time on your own for lunch and shopping. In the afternoon, discover why Rome is also known as the “City of Love”. Explore the romance of Rome as you climb the graceful Spanish Steps and stop at the famous Trevi Fountain. Legend says those who toss a coin into the fountain will one day return to Rome to toss another into the waters of Trevi. Visit the Pantheon before returning to your hotel in Rome.
October 13 - Rome (On Your Own)
Explore more of Rome on your own today. Visit Vatican City, its gardens, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica and expansive museum. Another option is to take a train to Naples to explore the ancient ruins of Pompeii.
October 14 - Return to USA
Guests taking an extension may be on a different flight than their group and/or traveling companion.
