Daily Itinerary
Day 1 Day 1 - Travel to Atlanta & Birmingham
Arrive in Atlanta and head to Birmingham, Alabama to start your Civil Rights Tour! Stop in Annison to see the outdoor Freedom Rides Memorial if the weather allows. Check into your hotel. Enjoy a welcome dinner together.
Day 2 Day 2 - Birmingham
Start your morning with a tour of 16th Street Baptist Church, where on September 15, 1963, a bomb exploded under the steps of the church, causing the deaths of four young girls. Tour the church and learn more about the history of the church and how this bombing brought national attention to this historic building. Enjoy a catered lunch at nearby church in downtown Birmingham. Then walk to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. Learn about Birmingham's history while seeing some of the most powerful artifacts of the Civil Rights movement. Head back to the hotel.
Day 3 Day 3 - Montgomery
Depart Birmingham and head to Selma. Visit the Edmund Pettus Bridge and other famous landmarks of Selma. Then head to Montgomery for lunch. After that, head to the first Legacy Site – The Legacy Museum. At the museum, trace the evolution of the dehumanizing myth of racial difference and its legacy throughout American history. Learn through first-person historical narratives and interactive media in this state-of-the-art museum. Then head over to the National Memorial for Peace and Justice. This outdoor memorial remembers those who were killed in racial terror lynchings between 18977 and 1950. Check into your Montgomery hotel.
Day 4 Day 4 - Tuskegee
Today you spend visiting the last and newest Legacy Site – the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park. Overlooking the Alabama River, the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park honors the lives of the 10 million Black people who were enslaved in America. Enjoy lunch together as you head to Tuskegee. At the Tuskegee Airman National Historic Site, learn about the Tuskegee Airmen and how they became one of the most respected fighter groups in World War II. Afterwards, head back to Montgomery.
Day 5 Day 5 - Montgomery to Atlanta
Check out of your hotel after breakfast. Take a driving tour of Montgomery. After the tour, head to Atlanta, stopping for lunch on the way, and check into the hotel. Enjoy time on your own this afternoon to explore Atlanta.
Day 6 Day 6 - Atlanta
Start your morning with a trip to Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site. Visit the exhibits and learn more about King Jr. Then head to Ebenezer Baptist to attend the Sunday morning service. After the service, the rest of the day is yours to explore Atlanta!
Day 7 Day 7 - Return Home
After breakfast, head to the Atlanta airport for your flight home.
