Daily Itinerary

Day 1 June 12th – USA to Holy Land (Tel Aviv)

Your journey begins as you depart the USA.

Day 2 June 13th – Welcome to the Holy Land (Tel Aviv)

Arrive in Tel Aviv and transfer to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 June 14th - Overview Day (Jerusalem)

Opening meeting at hotel - Old City wall walk (Walk the perimeter of Old City on top of the Wall to get an overview of the “lay of the land.” Narration by the guide.)Stand on the Mount of Olives for a remarkable view of Jerusalem (the Golden City); Jesus stood here before ascending into heaven forty days after His resurrection (Acts 1:9-12). Visit the Israel Museum. Where you will see the Scale model of the Jerusalem Dead Sea scrolls and the Archaeology Museum.

Day 4 June 15th Preparation Period/Ministry Foundations (Jerusalem hotel)

Visit the Herodian National Park. The Herodium is the fortified palace and final resting place of Herod the Great. In Bethlehem, gaze out over Shepherds Field and visit the cave revered as Jesus’ birthplace (Matt. 1: 18-25). Visit the Church of the Nativity, built above the cave and considered the world’s oldest functioning church (Matt. 1: 18-25). This day will also have a 3-hour wilderness walk in the Wadi Qelt.

Day 5 June 16th Dead Sea Day (Jerusalem hotel)

Follow the Jordan River south into desert lands. Explore the ruins of Jericho where the walls came tumbling down! Travel to Qasr el-Yehud for a personal experience with the Jordan River the opportunity to be baptized. Off in the distance, you can see the traditional site of the Temptation of Jesus (Matt. 4:1). Stop in Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947 by a Bedouin shepherd. Enjoy a visit to Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress built by Herod that later became the final tragic stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans. Ride the cable car to the top to explore the fortress and look down upon the remains of the Roman camps and siege ramp below. On the way to Jerusalem, stop at the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth, for an opportunity to take a quick dip in the mineral-laden waters.

Day 6 June 17th Ministry Foundations- Jerusalem (Jerusalem hotel)

Walk the Temple Mount (conditions permitting), once the site of the Temple of Solomon (II Chronicles 3), and home to the Dome of the Rock. See where Jesus healed on the Sabbath at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5: 1-31). Spend time in prayer at the Western Wall (the only remnant of the Second Temple of Jerusalem). Enjoy lunch in Old City. Explore Hezekiah’s Tunnel, an impressive engineering feat dug from either end and met in the middle! (Note: Those who are claustrophobic may want to meet the group at the other end of the tunnel!).

Day 7 June 18th Ministry Foundations-to Galilee (Galilee area hotel)

Drive north to Galilee and visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home (Matthew 2:23) and walk in the Basilica of the Annunciation and also stop at the Orthodox Church of the Annunciation. You will also see the Sisters of Mary Convent and the First Century Bar-Kochba Homes there. Stand atop the Mount of Precipice, where Luke describes how those in the synagogue rejected Jesus after He taught them. Pass through the Valley of the Doves and see Mount Arbel (Isaiah 9:2) (Hike to Summit for those who are able.) Optional trip to Magdala, once home to Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:1-3), visit a recently discovered first-century synagogue. Opt-out of the hike.

Day 8 June 19th Ministry Training/Expanded Outreach-Galilee (Galilee area hotel)

Visit Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee, and visit the synagogue built on the site where Jesus taught (Matt. 4:13, 23). On the Mount of Beatitudes, contemplate the text of the Sermon on the Mount that Jesus preached there (Matt. 5-7). Explore the Church of the Fish and the Loaves at Tabgha, the traditional site of the feeding of the 5,000 (Luke 9:10). Hike down Mt of Beatitudes. Enjoy places linked to specific Gospel moments: the calling of the disciples, miracle feedings, the Sermon on the Mount, and the restoration of Peter by visiting the Church of Primacy. Cross the waters of the Sea of Galilee on an extraordinary boat ride, complete with an onboard worship service.

Day 9 June 20th Jerusalem – Passion Week (Jerusalem hotel)

Stand on the Mount of Olives for a remarkable view of Jerusalem (the Golden City); Jesus stood here before ascending into heaven forty days after His resurrection (Acts 1:9-12). Where you will revisit Triumphal entry The Lord’s Prayer Overview of Bethany and Bethpage and Dominus Flevit chapel- Jesus wept. In the Kidron Valley across from the walls of Jerusalem, pray as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matt. 26:36).

Day 10 June 21st Passion walk-tracing Christ’s last days (Jerusalem hotel)

Recall the events of the Last Supper as you visit the traditional location of the Upper Room (Mark 14:12). Continue to Mount Zion to visit the House of the High Priest Caiaphas, where Jesus was questioned on the night of His betrayal (Matt. 26:57). Walk the Via Dolorosa (“the Way of the Cross”) to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (John 19), built over the traditional sites of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus.

Day 11 June 22nd Jerusalem-multiplication (Jerusalem hotel)

Begin this walking tour of Jerusalem on the top of the Mt. of Olives. Capture a view of the Old City. Walk down the Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane. Spend time in prayer at the Western Wall (the only remnant of the Second Temple of Jerusalem) and sit on the Teaching Steps where Jesus taught. Overnight Flight Home
