Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA on an overnight flight.

Day 2 Nov 1, 2023 – Arrive in Israel

Once you arrive, you will be welcomed at the Tel Aviv airport by our representative and transferred to your hotel to enjoy dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Nov 2, 2023 – Caesarea, Megiddo, Mt. Carmel, Jezreel Valley, Nazareth, Cana

Journey to Caesarea by the Sea and stand in the place where it is believed Paul addressed King Herod and Festus (Acts 25, 26). This port city reveals many extensive remains of the theater and other sites, including a Roman aqueduct along the Mediterranean shore. Overlook Tel Megiddo (Armageddon). Look out over the Valley of Jezreel from the heights of Mount Carmel. On this mount, Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18). Near Tel Megiddo, the Valley of Jezreel is a possible location of the last great war, the Battle of Armageddon. Visit the Franciscan Wedding Church in Cana, where you recall Jesus’ first miracle, the changing of water to wine (John 2). Visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home (Matthew 2: 23).

Day 4 Nov 3, 2023 – Golan Heights, Gamla, Bethsaida, Caesarea Philippi, Tel Dan

Travel through the Golan Heights and better understand their strategic importance to the security of Israel. Visit Gamla, known as the “Masada of the North,” where Jews held out against the Roman armies in 67 AD, and where many perished when the Romans ultimately overran the almost impregnable fortress-city. Walk the streets of Bethsaida, one of the “cities of woe” mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 11 and where Jesus chose five of His disciples (Matt. 4:18-21; John 1:39-51). Journey to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter proclaimed, “You are the Christ” (Matthew 16). Visit Tel Dan, one of ancient Israel’s boundary markers - “From Dan to Beersheba”.

Day 5 Nov 4, 2023 – Sea of Galilee, Ancient Boat, Capernaum,Mt of Beatitudes, Beit Shean

This morning, pray and sing hymns as you cross the waters of the Sea of Galilee by boat. At Kibbutz Nof Ginosar, you’ll learn about the “ancient boat,” a rare example of the kind of boat in which Jesus would have sailed. Next, travel to Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry. Visit the synagogue on the site where Jesus taught (Matt.4:13, 23). At the Mount of Beatitudes read the sermon on the mount (Matt. 5-7). Visit the Chapel of the Primacy, where Peter professed his devotion to the risen Christ (John 21). End your day at Beit Shean, a city continuously inhabited for over 5,000 years. This is the city where Saul and his sons’ bodies were hung from its walls (1 Sam. 31). The uncovered ruins date back to the Greek/Roman city that was part of the Decapolis of Jesus’ day. See colonnaded streets with marble sidewalks, Roman public baths, and a theater.

Day 6 Nov 5, 2023 – Masada, Qumran, Dead Sea, Qasr el – Yahud

Visit Masada and the Dead Sea. Masada was Herod’s mountaintop fortress and the last stronghold of the Jewish Rebellion against the Romans. It was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2001. Enjoy a quick dip in the salt and mineral-laden waters of the Dead Sea. Visit Qumran, site of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery, to discuss the mysterious community of the Essenes who once lived on the shores of the Dead Sea. End your day at Qasr el Yahud, the site believed to be where Jesus was baptized.

Day 7 Nov 6, 2023 – Mount of Olives, City of David, Pool of Siloam, Temple Mount, Pool of Bethesda, Church of St Anne, Via Del a Rosa, Antonio Fortress, Rabbis Tunnel

Stand atop the Mount of Olives as Jesus did and enjoy a remarkable view of the “Golden City” of Jerusalem. Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives (Acts 1:9-12). Wander the excavations of the City of David. Walk the steps to the Pool of Siloam, recently uncovered at the foot of the City. See the Temple Mount, once the site of the Temple of Solomon. View the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle (John 5: 1-31). Sing a hymn in the Church of St. Anne, known for its amazing acoustics. Visit Herod’s Antonia Fortress, where Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate (Luke 23:1-11). Walk the Via Dolorosa, “the Way of the Cross,” Follow the Herodian Support Wall and walk on first-century pavement in the Rabbi’s Tunnel.

Day 8 Nov 7, 2023 – Israel Museum, Temple Institute, Cardo, Western Wall, Yad Vashem
