Day 1 Nov 29 – Depart from San Francisco
Travel to Guadalajara from San Francisco. Welcome to Guadalajara! Meet, greet and Check into your hotel with a welcome dinner (D)
Day 2 Nov 30 –Guadalajara HOTEL MORALES
After breakfast, spend a city sightseeing at Guadalajara’s Cathedral, Plaza Tapatio, Teatro Degollado, the State Capital Building, the Cabanas Hospicio, Mariachi Plaza and other points of interest. Dinner and Check into your hotel. (B, D)
Day 3 Dec 1 – Guadalajara - Tequila
After breakfast, depart for the town of Tequila, home of the famous drink for which the town is known. Stop by the TEMPLE OF THE PURÍSIMA, a parish dedicated to Saint James the Apostle, patron saint of the peoples of the region, which was built in the 17th century and whose beauty lies in the simplicity of the building. A tower was later added, with its front being piece adorned with Doric columns, carved cherubs and a sculpture of St. Michael the Archangel. The atrium has a sculpture of Santo Toribio Romo, who died as a martyr for the Catholic faith on February 25, 1928. Twenty years after his sacrifice, Santo Toribio’s remains returned to their place of origin and were deposited in the chapel built by him in Jalostotitlán. On May 21, 2000, he was canonized by Pope John Paul II along with 24 companions. Next, tour the Jose Cuervo plantation and distillery, including tequila tasting. Continue to Guadalajara for dinner in the hotel and overnight. (B, D)
Day 4 Dec 2 – Guadalajara - Morelia
After breakfast, depart for the City of Morelia, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its well-preserved colonial buildings and layout of the historic center. Stop for a Mass at the cathedral and a city tour of the historic center. Dinner and overnight in Morelia. (B, D)
Day 5 Dec 3 – Morelia - Teotihuacan - Mexico City HOTEL CATEDRAL
After breakfast, drive to Mexico City. Continue to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan to see the Pyramids of the Sun, the Moon, and then time for shopping. Continue to Mexico City for dinner and overnight (B, D)
Day 6 Dec 4. ‐ Mexico City – Puebla- Mexico City
Today, enjoy a trip to the City of the Angels, Puebla. On the way, stop at the Basilica of Ocotlan, erected at the site of the apparition of Our Lady, where her image is burnt into an oak tree. We celebrate Mass at the Shrine of San Miguel del Milagro, the site of apparitions of St. Michael the Archangel and the spring of curative waters blessed by St. Michael. Continue to Puebla to see the ornated guilded Chapel of the Rosary in the Church of Santo Domingo, the cathedral and other points of interest. Arrive back to the city in the late afternoon in time for dinner at the hotel and an evening at leisure. (B, D)
Day 7 Dec 5 – Mexico City
After breakfast, drive to the shrine for PRIVATE Mass. We ascend Tepeyac Hill, the place of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Juan Diego in 1531, and visit the Capilla del Cerrito. Following the stairs down, we view Tepeyac Garden and its statues symbolizing the union of the Aztec people and the Spanish Christian mission. A stop at the Chapel of the Indians completes the tour. Visit the Church of the Fifth Apparition. The rest of the morning is for private devotions. In the afternoon, visit San Felipe Neri (La Profesa), established by the Society of Jesus late in the 16th century as the church of a community of professed Jesuits. Visit the anthropology museum. Departure will be after breakfast, with luggage already on board for your afternoon flight.
