Daily Itinerary

Day 1 December 6 – Depart the USA

Today, your pilgrimage begins as you board your overnight flight bound for Lisbon, Portugal. Rest and prepare for the days of spiritual and cultural enrichment ahead.

Day 2 December 7 – Arrive Lisbon, Portugal

Upon arrival in Lisbon, you will be greeted by your tour manager and transferred to your hotel. After check-in and a time to refresh, enjoy a panoramic orientation tour that includes the Jerónimos Monastery, the Belem Tower, and the Monument of the Discoveries, highlighting Portugal’s Golden Age of Exploration. Gather for a welcome dinner and overnight in Lisbon. (D)

Day 3 December 8 – Lisbon to Fátima

This morning, depart Lisbon for Fátima, one of the world’s most significant Marian shrines. Visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, including the Chapel of the Apparitions, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, and the Basilica of the Holy Trinity. Walk the Stations of the Cross and visit the homes of the three shepherd children in Aljustrel. In the evening, participate in the candlelight rosary procession. Overnight in Fátima. (B, D)

Day 4 December 9 – Fátima to Salamanca, Spain

Cross into Spain and travel to Salamanca, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its golden sandstone architecture. Enjoy a guided tour of the Plaza Mayor, the University of Salamanca (founded in 1218), and the Old and New Cathedrals. Stroll through the historic streets and immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of this academic and religious hub. Overnight in Salamanca. (B, D)

Day 5 December 10 – Salamanca to Ávila to Segovia

Depart for Ávila, the city of St. Teresa, where you will walk along the imposing medieval walls and visit the Convent of St. Teresa, built on the site of her birthplace. Continue to Segovia, famous for its perfectly preserved Roman aqueduct, the Alcázar of Segovia, and the tomb of St. John of the Cross. Overnight in Segovia. (B, D)

Day 6 December 11 – Segovia to Madrid

Travel to Spain’s capital, Madrid. Enjoy a panoramic tour that features the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and the Gran Vía. Visit the Prado Museum to view masterpieces by Velázquez, Goya, and El Greco. Evening free for leisure or an optional tapas tour. Overnight in Madrid. (B, D)

Day 7 December 12 – Toledo Excursion

Today, take a full-day excursion to Toledo, the “City of Three Cultures.” Visit the magnificent Gothic Cathedral of Toledo, admire works by El Greco, and walk through its labyrinthine streets where Christian, Jewish, and Muslim traditions once coexisted. Return to Madrid for overnight. (B, D)

Day 8 December 13 – Madrid to Zaragoza

Depart Madrid and travel northeast to Zaragoza, home to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, believed to be the first Marian apparition. Explore the basilica’s richly decorated interior and chapels. Dinner and overnight in Zaragoza. (B, D)

Day 9 December 14 – Zaragoza to Lourdes, France

Cross the Pyrenees into France and arrive in Lourdes, where the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette in 1858. In the evening, join pilgrims from around the world in the moving candlelight procession (seasonal). Overnight in Lourdes. (B, D)

Day 10 December 15 – Lourdes

Spend the day in Lourdes for prayer and reflection. Celebrate Mass at the Grotto of Massabielle, visit the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and the Rosary Basilica, and, for those who wish, experience the healing baths. In the afternoon, walk in the footsteps of St. Bernadette by visiting her family home and parish church. Overnight in Lourdes. (B, D)

Day 11 December 16 – Lourdes to Montserrat, Spain

Return to Spain and travel to the dramatic mountain setting of Montserrat. Visit the Benedictine Monastery and the shrine of the Black Madonna, patroness of Catalonia. Enjoy time for prayer and reflection amid the spectacular mountain views. Overnight in Montserrat. (B, D)

Day 12 December 17 – Montserrat to Barcelona

This morning, continue to Barcelona. Begin a guided tour of this vibrant city, including the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas, and Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia Basilica. Dinner and overnight in Barcelona. (B, D)

Day 13 December 18 – Barcelona / Depart for the USA

Enjoy breakfast before transferring to the airport for your return flight home, bringing with you lasting memories of this pilgrimage through Portugal, Spain, and France. (B)
