After its almost complete devastation during World War II, the city was reborn from the ashes and has developed into a modern center of culture, science, and business. The tour of the city includes the Old Town, which was reconstructed after World War II in a faithful rendering of its original form. At its heart is the Market Square, from where narrow streets lead to medieval defensive walls, the Barbican, St. John’s Cathedral, and the Royal Castle. After a leisurely breakfast, prepare to explore more of Warsaw. Begin your day by visiting the Holy Trinity Church, the largest Lutheran church in Poland. The church's recognizable circular design and unique architecture will impress. After some time on my own for lunch, I head to Lazienki Park for a visit. Formerly a hunting ground, it was in the 18th century turned into a classical English landscape park with formal gardens, and the neoclassical Lazienki Palace was built on an island in the park’s lake. There are other stunning sights in the park, including a Greek- and Roman-inspired amphitheater. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

After breakfast, you will depart for Torun for a city tour. The Old Town of Torun is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe. Here you will enjoy a city tour to see some of the town, which has a notable Protestant legacy dating back to the Reformation. As a member of the Hanseatic League, Toruñ had significant German (Lutheran) influence, especially in the 16th and 17th centuries. The city was home to a vibrant Protestant community, and there are still historic Protestant churches and traces of religious coexistence and tension. Enjoy some free time for lunch on your own. This afternoon, visit the Copernicus House and Museum. Highlighting the life of Nicolaus Copernicus, your visit will discuss his revolutionary heliocentric model of the universe. His story prompts reflection on how faith, science, and reform can coexist. Dinner and overnight in Torun. (B, D)

Depart this morning for Gdansk. On the way, you will stop at Malbork Castle. This Castle is Poland's finest fortress, with an impressive collection of medieval artifacts and art on display. This afternoon, you will arrive in Gdansk. The city of Gdansk is blessed with more buildings and monuments than anywhere else in the Baltic region. You can stroll along the historic Royal Way and D³ugie Pobrzeze (the “Long Waterfront”) where you will discover priceless gems, including delightful merchant’s houses, the stately Artus Court, the Gothic Town Hall, the monumental St Mary’s Church towering above the city, and Neptune Fountain – a great symbol of Gdansk. Take a train to Krakow with your guide. Take in the scenic countryside. Upon arrival, enjoy some free time for lunch. Having escaped destruction during World War II, the city has uniquely retained its charming medieval form. Embark on a walking tour exploring the city with your guide. The central Market Square – the largest in Europe – is where several of the city’s architectural and cultural landmarks can be found, such as the Cloth Hall, which today houses a gallery of Polish paintings, and St Mary’s Church, world-famous for its altar carved by Veit Stoss. In the morning, you will visit the Wawel Castle. Here you will see Wawel Cathedral, the coronation site of Polish Kings. Continue to the Evangelical-Augsburg Church to explore the Church's roots in Poland. Then travel to Wieliczka Salt Mines. Descend via stairway into the depths of the earth to see the wonders left behind by the miners, including Chapels and Chandeliers made from salt. (B, D)

After breakfast, continue to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp. Here, you will walk the grounds in remembrance of those who lost their lives there. In the afternoon, visit Collegium Maius. This building, located at the University, laid the groundwork for Protestant reformers such as Luther and Calvin. Enjoy a relaxing evening before you return home. (B, D)
