Daily Itinerary

Day 1 October 21 - Depart the USA

Your journey begins as you depart the USA.

Day 2 October 22 – Arrive in the Holy Land

Arrive in Tel Aviv and transfer to your hotel in Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 October 23 – Bethlehem

In Bethlehem, visit the cave where Jesus was born (Luke 2:1-7) and the Church of the Nativity. Gaze out over Shepherds’ Field, where angels first proclaimed the Good News. Return to your hotel in Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 October 24 – Journey to the Galilee

Stand atop Mount Precipice, where Luke describes how those in the synagogue rejected Jesus after He taught them. Filled with anger, they “led Him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast Him down headlong” (Luke 4: 29). Visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home (Matthew 2:23) and stop by the Elbabour Galilee Mill, which has been in operation for over 120 years. Visit Nazareth Village, a recreation of what Nazareth would have looked like in the time of Jesus and enjoy a special Biblical lunch. Visit the Franciscan Wedding Chapel in Cana, the site of Jesus’ first miracle. Check into your hotel in Tiberias this evening and enjoy dinner and rest.

Day 5 October 25 – Sea of Galilee

Pass through the Valley of the Doves and see Mount Arbel (Isaiah 9:2) on your way toward the Sea of Galilee. This was a major pathway in the time of Christ. He and his disciples passed through this valley as they walked through Galilee. In Magdala, once home to Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:1-3), visit a recently discovered first-century synagogue. Enjoy lunch together before crossing the waters of the Sea of Galilee on a very special boat ride, complete with an onboard worship service. At Kibbutz Nof Ginosar, see the 2,000-year-old “ancient boat,” a rare example of the kind of boat in which Jesus might have sailed. Visit Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee, and visit the synagogue built on the site where Jesus taught (Matt. 4:13, 23). On the Mount of Beatitudes, contemplate the text of the Sermon on the Mount that Jesus preached there (Matt. 5-7). Explore the Church of the Loaves and Fish at Tabgha, the traditional site of the feeding of the 5,000 (Luke 9:10-17). Return to your hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 October 26 – Northern Israel

See neighboring Bethsaida, where Jesus chose five of His disciples (Matt. 4:18-21; John 1:39-51). Continue to Kursi, which was in the region of the Gadarenes in Christ’s time and remember where Christ cast the demons into the swine (Mark 5). See the Byzantine ruins here. See nearby the Banias Nature Preserve and hike to the waterfalls. Continue to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter told the Lord, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God!” (Matt.16: 16). Time permitting, visit the Hermon Springs. Remember your baptism at the Yardenit Baptismal site, where the Jordan River exits the Sea of Galilee on its journey southward (Matt. 3). Return to your hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 October 27 – The Wilderness

Visit the baptismal site of Qasr el Yehud, where tradition says Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Travel to Jericho (the oldest city in the world) and visit the ruins of the ancient city conquered by Joshua (Joshua 6:1, 2 & 20). In the distance, you can see the traditional site of the Temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11). Continue to Qumran, the site of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery. End your day by checking into your Dead Sea hotel and enjoy the opportunity to take a dip in the mineral-laden waters of the Dead Sea. Dinner is at your hotel this evening.

Day 8 October 28 – Masada & Ein Gedi

Ascend by cable car to Masada, Herod’s legendary mountaintop fortress, which became the last desperate stronghold of the Jewish Zealots against the Romans. Continue to Ein Gedi, where David hid from King Saul and walk to the waterfall there. Continue to Jerusalem and check into your hotel. Enjoy dinner and rest.

Day 9 October 29 – Jerusalem

Begin your day with a group picture taken from the Mount of Olives, where Jesus ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9-12). Walk the Palm Sunday Road and pray in the Garden of Gethsemane and envision the scenes of the night before Jesus’ crucifixion (Matthew 26:36 - 44). Continue to Mount Zion to visit the House of the High Priest Caiaphas, where Jesus was questioned on the night of His betrayal (Matthew 26:57). Meditate on the events of the Last Supper as you visit the traditional location of the Upper Room (Mark 14:12-26). After lunch, wander through the excavations of the City of David. Explore Hezekiah’s Tunnel, an amazing engineering feat that was dug from both ends and met in the middle (Note: Those who are claustrophobic may want to meet the group at the other end of the tunnel). Visit the Pool of Siloam, recently discovered at the foot of the city. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and rest.

Day 10 October 30 – Jerusalem

Begin your day with a group picture taken from the Mount of Olives, where Jesus ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9-12). Walk the Palm Sunday Road and pray in the Garden of Gethsemane and envision the scenes of the night before Jesus’ crucifixion (Matthew 26:36 - 44). Continue to Mount Zion to visit the House of the High Priest Caiaphas, where Jesus was questioned on the night of His betrayal (Matthew 26:57). Visit the Pool of Siloam, recently discovered at the foot of the city. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and rest.

Day 11 October 31 – Free Day

Enjoy free time this morning to explore Jerusalem on your own. This afternoon, enjoy a tour of Jaffa. Walk along the seaside promenade of the Mediterranean Sea to the ancient Biblical port city of Jaffa, with cobbled streets and artists’ galleries. Jaffa is the city Jonah fled from, where Peter raised Tabitha from the dead and had the vision of the white sheet. Visit St. Peter’s Church. See the “Jaffa Tales” a multi-sensory experience. Tour the archaeological site and walk on the floating bridge into a virtual performance that brings past heroes to life. Enjoy dinner in town before transferring to the Tel Aviv airport to prepare for your flight home.
